Neptune Krill Oil
Neptune Krill Oil™ is the best source of Omega-3 fatty acids that science has discovered to date.
These oils are well known to protect against inflammation in the joints and cardiovascular system, and to enhance brain function. Neptune Krill Oil™ contains many nutrients essential to living creatures. What makes NKO™ so remarkable is that it is really three supplements in one — essential fatty acids, phospholipids, and antioxidants —all three combining synergistically to provide potent and wide ranging benefits to the whole body.
Neptune Krill Oil found Superior to Fish Oil Purity
Krill are shrimp-like crustaceans harvested in the Antarctic waters, well known to be one of the purest and harshest ocean waters on our planet. Krill are completely free of the mercury and other heavy metals, PCBs and dioxins that are often present in fish oils.
Stability
NKO™ contains potent antioxidants which make the oil exceptionally stable. The carotenoid astaxanthin, small amounts of vitamin A and vitamin E, and a novel bioflavonoid all contribute to the exceptional stability and antioxidant potency of Neptune Krill Oil. Fish oil, on the other hand is notoriously prone to rancidity.*
Antioxidant Value
Neptune Krill Oil measured on an ORAC scale (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) which is a measure of antioxidant capacity of any substance, showed NKO™ antioxidant values 48 times that of fish oil and 34 times that of coenzyme Q10, 300 times the antioxidant power of vitamin A or E alone, This helps explain its exceptional stability against oxygen, heat and light.
Absorption
NKO™ by weight has a high proportion of EPA and DHA. But unlike fish oil, the EPA and DHA in Krill are bonded to phospholipids , the primary structural component of all our cell membranes. Because krill’s fatty acids are already integrated into the phospholipids, they are readily taken up into the cell membranes. Neptune Krill Oil typically has more than 40 percent phospholipids by weight (mostly phosphatidylcholine) and upwards of 30 percent EPA + DHA. Fish oils have none of these qualities - their EPA+DHA are almost totally in the form of triglycerides.
Research showing beneficial results For PMS A recently published double-blind, controlled, randomized trial from University of Montreal, McGill University on 70 women showed that NKO™dramatically improved all emotional PMS symptoms including feeling overwhelmed, anxiety, stress, irritability, and depression. After 45 and 90 days the Neptune Krill Oil group on 2 g per day, had statistically significant differences in both emotional and physical symptoms including breast tenderness, joint pain and dysmenorrhea. The fish oil group after 90 days only had statistically significant reduction in weight gain, swelling and abdominal pain. Study subjects reported using 50% fewer analgesics on a dose of 2 NKO™ gelcaps daily. Cardiovascular Study For Blood lipid abnormality In another double-blind trial, physicians of the University of Montreal, McGill University and a medical center in Quebec, Canada compared two intake levels of Neptune’s Krill Oil against one high intake level of 18:12 fish oil. The three-month trial involved 120 men and women with mild to severe hyperlipidemia. The subjects were randomly assigned to one of four groups (30 patients per group): NKO™ 1.5 grams/day, krill oil 3 grams/day, fish oil 3 grams/day, placebo 1.5 grams/day. The trial lasted 90 days. Its main findings: - Neptune Krill Oil at low intake (1.5 grams/day) was significantly effective at lowering total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and the total cholesterol: HDL ratio. It elevated HDL and lowered blood sugar levels.
- NKO™ at 1.5 grams/day achieved significantly better lowering of LDL and blood sugar than did fish oil at twice the intake - 3 grams /day.
- NKO™at higher dose (3 grams/day) additionally lowered blood triglycerides, while the fish oil did not. This higher dose also was superior over fish oil for lowering LDL and glucose. In this cardiovascular trial, as with the PMS trial, Neptune Krill Oil outperformed fish oil in benefits, potency and tolerability. These trials suggest NKO™ is at least twice as effective as fish oil milligram for milligram, works faster than fish oil and completely lacks fish oil’s unpleasant aftereffects. *For Neptune Krill Oil the oxidative stability index, the time for which it resists oxidation, exceeds 50 hours at 97.8 degrees Celsius. Fish oils typically do not exceed eight hours at 80 degrees Celsius, and they are notoriously unstable.
